I was going for a job interview but I’m not too sure what the job was for. My interviewer was John Malkovich playing his character from Transformers 3, which, in case you haven’t seen the movie, is a bit of an eccentric businessman. The company seemed quite small as the reception area was in the same room as the main body of workers. John Malkovich seemed very busy as he was constantly walking all over the office and talking to different people. It appeared he had forgotten that he had asked me to come in for an interview.
Eventually when he walked past me, he gestured for me to follow him. I got up from my chair and followed him into his office. Along the way, I noticed that he had all his employees drawing pictures of their favourite thing to do. I figured it was some kind of team building exercise. As I sat down in his office, I realised that I had given him an old version of my CV that didn’t mention anything about my working in an office or anything else I’d done in the past year. I also realised that the document holder under my arm was completely empty and I prayed he wouldn’t ask me to open it.
He started asking me about my past work experience and instead of explaining that there had been a mix-up with my CV, I just launched into a big spiel about my time working in an office. He started to look really confused (as he had nothing on record about this) and I could feel that things were going to get worse.
Luckily I woke up before they had a chance to get really bad!

My Cousin’s Birthday November 4, 2010

This dream is a bit disjointed but I’ll do my best to remember it. I was in the sitting room with a girl from work whose shoes were really hurting her. I was looking through my bag to give her some blister plasters I’d gotten free somewhere. I couldn’t find the free ones anywhere but I didn’t want her to be in pain so I gave her a packet I’d bought the previous day and told her to bring them with her (wherever she was going) in case the one she put on came off during the night.
Then my parents and I were going to my cousin’s 15th birthday party (in reality she’s about 12 or 13!) and we were running late. I have a feeling I might have been driving (despite the fact that I can’t drive in real life) and I pulled in somewhere to pick her up a card. They started giving out to me saying that we were too late to afford to stop and get a card. I refused to turn up to her birthday empty-handed so I went into the shop and took my time in picking out a really lovely card.
The dream then completely changes and I’m back in my house, waiting outside the bathroom. Apparently there’s someone giving massages in the bathroom and it’s my turn next. She’d gone way over time with whoever was in before me but I didn’t mind as I hoped that would mean I’d get a longer massage too.
When the previous person came out (I have absolutely no idea who it was), the woman started packing up her stuff to leave. I asked her what she was doing as I was supposed to be next in. She looked really shocked and then explained that she thought the time she was booked in for was just for the one person and not to be split between two.
I’m not sure what happened then. I know something happened but that’s all I remember.

I was going home from work and heading for the train. It was lashing rain though so I decided I’d get a bus to the train station. I was also carrying a gym bag that I was supposed to give to Fergal.
The bus was speeding around the place and it wasn’t stopping at any of the bus stops either. I realised I’d have to jump off if I was going to make my train as the bus would bring me in a totally different direction if I stayed on it much longer. I jumped off the bus and started running through the rain to the train station.
I had five minutes to make my train and I had no idea where I was supposed to meet Fergal. For some reason the train station I was running to was the Belfast train station. I heard my train pulling away and I knew I’d have to wait ages for the next one. I slowed down to a walk at this point and the rain started to clear. Next to the station, there was a park which had totally flooded with the rain. A guy was wading across what was now a lake and had rolled hs jeans up around his knees. I remember thinking that his legs must be freezing.
I don’t know if I ever gave Fergal his bag.

Overreaction October 24, 2010

I was sitting at a table playing Scrabble with Brittany from Glee. I was saying that I hadn’t played Scrabble in years but she said that it was okay as she wasn’t very good at it.

I realised then that my break was over (because apparently I was in work) so I got up from the table and started heading back to my desk. As I was walking along, I met up with one of the guys who sits near me. He tapped me lightly on the head and said something like, “Ready to go back to work?”
I started completely freaking out at him, shouting that he had no right to touch me on the head and I was going to report him to HR. Everyone was looking at me like I was insane. I kept going on and he got really insulted that I was reporting him.
When we reached our desks, all our computers had been pushed together so you had no space to yourself. I ended up sitting next to the guy who I’d just been shouting at. I was doing my best to ignore him.
I turned on my computer and realised I didn’t have a keyboard. I asked, “Has anyone seen my keyboard?” and the guy picked it up from behind my screen and gave it to me. I thanked him and after a few seconds said that I wasn’t going to report him but I just didn’t want anyone touching my head. He laughed and said I probably didn’t have to worry about that after what had just happened.
Oddly enough I have nothing against people touching my head but a few days after I had this dream I found out that the guy who had touched my head actually hates people touching his head!

I was in the local shopping centre but I can’t remember if I was with Chris or if I was meeting Chris there. I/we were going along a narrow walkway but it split into two paths just ahead of where we were. There was a security guard blocking both paths with his arms. I/we decided to take the path on the right and for some reason he lifted his arm and let me/us past.
Then I was in the arcade of the cinema. I seemed to have gotten my job back working in the cinema. I was talking to Sarah so I told her to come over to Ben and Jerrys as that was where I was supposed to be. She followed me over but when I got there, there were loads of people behind the counter.
It turned out we had started serving wine so people had decided to go behind the counter and help themselves. I started shouting at them to get out and threatened to hit them with a baking tray when they wouldn’t leave but I was called to clean a screen before I could hit anyone.
They told me to clean screen 3 but in the time I hadn’t been working there, screen 3 had been swapped with screen 9. The whole lobby area was different too. The walls were white and the lighting was red. It felt very claustrophobic. I was cleaning the screen with one of the guys and he was pushing a new cleaning trolley around.
The weirdest thing though was his uniform. I was wearing the same uniform I always had worn, except that I now had a pair of black heels on. He was wearing fitted black trousers, a pale purple shirt, a red necktie and really high black heels. I asked him why he was dressed so weird and commented that his heels were even higher than mine. He just shrugged and said it was a new rule.
When we went into the screen, it was full of tables and chairs like you would have in a cafe. Rebecca was sitting at one of the tables with her boyfriend. She waved to me and said that she forgot I had gone back working here. I waved back and started cleaning the tables, wondering where the movie would be shown.
That’s all I remember but it was enough to leave me feeling quite confused!

Football Match May 5, 2010

I was in my back garden but for some reason it looked like the green outside my secondary school. It was really hot and sunny out. I was getting ready to play a game of football (despite the fact that I both hate football and am awful at it) but a group of people from work when I remembered I was supposed to feed my cat.
I ran back into the house and gave her a load of fresh salmon rather than catfood. I think this was to make up for the fact that I had forgotten about her. I then went back out into the garden/green.
We seemed to be playing an odd variation of football which consisted of two players per team and three teams in a match. Even in the dream I found this confusing and I told them I’d never played this kind of game before. They said that they’d show me the rules and I’d easily pick it up as I went along.
The dream then skipped forward and a group of us we walking home (I guess it wasn’t my back garden after all?). The woman I was walking with told me very quietly that she’s been awarded some kind of social award for being a good person or something.
I congratulated her on the award and asked why she didn’t mention it sooner. She then replied that she didn’t want to seem big-headed and asked would people be offended if she told them. I told her not to be silly and that people would be happy for her!
That was the end of the dream, I think.

The setting reminded me of the Caribbean as seen in the Monkey Island series of computer games. Anyway I was in a little row-boat with a few other people who I can’t remember. We were approaching what appeared to be Monkey Island itself.
I was really nervous because we were expecting a fight or an ambush upon arrival. When we got off the boat though, the next thing I remember was being in this small apartment with Chris and some little girl. We were still hiding from whoever had been expected to ambush us earlier.
I had something that looked like a toy dart gun but was actually a real gun. I think we were trying to protect the little girl but I don’t know why. People kept knocking at the door so Chris would answer it while I’d cover him from out of view of the door. All the people calling were either salespeople or friends who we invited in. None of them seemed perturbed to see me standing there with a gun, perhaps because they thought it was just a toy.
I’m not sure if we moved or if the dream changed settings but after a while we were outside but there was also a shelter where loads of crates were stored. We may have been on an island of some kind because the only way to get to us was by crossing a bridge.
All the people from the cinema were moving the crates or bringing more crates. A guy from my course was there and he asked me why I was so on edge. He was standing with a ginger haired guy who seemed a bit hyper.
I told the two of them that “they” were coming for us and I had to protect the little girl. I also explained that my toy gun was real. The hyper guy didn’t seem to even take in what I said but the guy from college nodded and said he’d keep out of my way.
Suddenly I heard a load of footsteps running across the bridge. I got myself ready to face them but I was shaking. I calmed myself down enough to hold the gun steady. I could now see who was coming across the bridge and it was only more staff.
I let out my breath, which I hadn’t even realised I had been holding. No one seemed to have noticed how scared I’d been and I put the safety back on the gun. I leaned against one of the walls of the shelter as the relief at not having to shoot anyone or be shot at coursed through me. I looked up and a guy from work caught my eye and mouthed, “Well done”. I wanted to thank him but he was already gone.
Sorry about the lack of updates lately, I haven’t been remembering dreams at all the past few days.

Air Hockey March 19, 2010

I was starting a shift in work and I was meant to be getting a till because I was working in the pick-and-mix section. The manager that was in told me to go downstairs because I wouldn’t need a till. Somehow I assumed this meant I was to work on ushering. When I got downstairs I stood outside a screen for about half an hour.
I realised I didn’t even look like I was working so I decided to walk purposefully to the other end of the cinema. On my way I passed two of the guys I work with playing air hockey on a makeshift table. One of them had never played before and kept managing to make the puck bounce off the table. I heard one of the team leaders walking in the direction of the air hockey table so I started to walk away. By the time they reached the table I was too far away to be considered part of it.
I can’t really remember anything else. I hate dreaming about work.

I was in work but for some reason it was in Tesco rather than a cinema. One of the team leaders was running around like crazy trying to find something he had put on the wrong shelf by mistake. He wanted to keep us busy while he did that so he told us to move the trolleys. Myself and 2 other people started racing the trolleys. One of them asked me if we were allowed to race them and my reply was that we were still moving them so we weren’t doing anything wrong.
Then I was buying some stuff but I was charged for two items I didn’t buy. I was trying to get a refund and the person serving me was giving me €8 back. I was convinced that I was due €11 but they eventually persuaded me to accept the €8. I wasn’t happy though.
Pretty uneventful dream really.

Chris and I were in Manchester but he had to go somewhere for the day so I was wandering around the place myself. It didn’t look anything like Manchester does in real life. Someone asked me did I know how to get to Old Trafford. I told them we were actually standing across the road from it and it was the door that was painted red and the door beside it led to one of the shopping centres.
Suddenly it was getting dark and I realised I was hungry. I didn’t know what time Chris would be back and I was trying to decide whether to wait for him or to go get pizza. I had wandered down to the docks (I’m aware Manchester isn’t really by the sea) and I wasn’t sure how to get to my favourite pizza restaurant from there.
Then, out of nowhere, Chris appeared. He was asking me what I was doing down at the docks and I said I had just kind of ended up here. I was going to go for pizza but I wasn’t sure of the way and it was getting dark so I was just about to go home. I asked him if he’d eaten and he said that he’d gotten subway. I was like, “Ugh so I could’ve gone for food ages ago”. Chris said that he knew the way to the restaurant though so we’d go for pizza anyway.
Then the dream changed entirely and I was working in some kind of office where I had to compose tunes. I’m not sure what the tunes were to be used for but it might have been advertisements. I had come up with a tune earlier but had forgotten to write it down. My deadline was the end of the day and I knew I had to come up with something.
I bumped into a guy I know from work on the stairs and we got talking about trying to compose our tunes. He said something that clicked in my head and made me remember my tune! It was called artificially hoping or fake hope or something like that. I remembered that I’d somehow made the beat from two fans in my office that clicked at different times. I ran back down the stairs to write it down while it was still in my head.
Having made my deadline I decided it was time for a snack (a very food orientated dream!) so I went to the food storeroom to get some sauce to put on the bag of pasta I had brought with me. The storeroom was really cold and a bit damp. I found the jar of sauce I wanted but every time I went to grab it, a drop of really cold condensation fell on my hand and caused me to withdraw my arm.
I tried looking around for another jar of it but I couldn’t find any. Then I couldn’t even find the original jar anywhere. Two guys came into the storeroom looking for something and they couldn’t find what they wanted either. It was really weird and eventually we all gave up.
I wasn’t even that hungry when I woke up despite dreaming about so much food! I do want pizza though…
